Nebraska Vape Registry

Nebraska has passed a new law that changes which vape products can legally be sold in the state. This page explains what the Nebraska Vape Registry is, when enforcement begins, and what it means for product availability in Nebraska.

Quick Summary

  • Enforcement began: January 1, 2026
  • Only registered vape products can be sold in Nebraska
  • This applies to all retailers (vape shops, convenience stores, gas stations, and any business selling vape products)
  • If a product is not registered, nobody can sell or stock it
  • Some products may return later only if the brand completes registration and appears on the approved registry

Key Dates

  • April 2, 2024: Nebraska Vape Registry law passed
  • December 31, 2025: Last day unregistered products can be sold in Nebraska (by close)
  • January 1, 2026: Enforcement began. After this date, unregistered products cannot be sold or stocked in Nebraska.

What the Nebraska Vape Registry Is

The Nebraska Vape Registry is a state-managed list of vape products approved for sale in Nebraska.

To be considered legal for sale in Nebraska, the brand or manufacturer must complete the required registration process and appear on the official registry. Retailers cannot register products on a brand’s behalf.

If a product is not registered, it cannot be sold or stocked by any retailer in Nebraska.

Who This Applies To

This law applies to all retailers in Nebraska, including:

  • Vape shops
  • Convenience stores
  • Gas stations
  • Tobacco retailers
  • Any business that sells vape products

After January 1, 2026, nobody in Nebraska can sell or stock unregistered vape products, regardless of where they are sold.

What This Means for Guests

If you vape in Nebraska, here’s the simplest way to understand it:

  • Some products available before the new year may have disappeared if the brand did not complete registration
  • Once enforcement began, unregistered products cannot be purchased in Nebraska
  • Availability may change if the brand completes registration

Is It Illegal to Own Unregistered Products?

No.

This law changes what retailers can sell and stock. It does not change what consumers already own.

In other words, it targets sales and inventory, not personal possession.

Why Some Products Are Being Removed

The law was passed on April 2, 2024, giving brands time to complete registration.

Some brands completed the process. Others did not.

If a brand does not complete registration, retailers are legally required to remove those products from shelves, even if:

  • The product has been popular for years
  • The product is a Guest favorite
  • The product still has strong demand

Retailers do not control this process. The brand controls registration.

What Generation V Has Done

At Generation V, our priority is advocating for our Guests and doing everything we can to keep access to the products you love whenever possible.

Since the law passed, we have:

  • Communicated registry requirements to vendors
  • Explained the process
  • Followed up repeatedly with brands to encourage completion
  • Removed any and all products not on the Nebraska Vape Registry

The final outcome still comes down to the manufacturer. If they do not register, we cannot sell or stock those products after enforcement begins.

Will Products Come Back?

Possibly.

Brands may still choose to register after January 1, 2026. However:

  • Products cannot return to shelves until they officially appear on the approved registry
  • There can be gaps in availability even if a brand plans to register later
  • Some products may never come back
